Yoga/Pilates
Yoga is the world’s oldest holistic system of self-development, integrating body, mind and spirit. Yoga encompasses a tremendous diversity of teachings and techniques. However, all schools of yoga commit to the common task of cultivating health, fostering personal growth and supporting spiritual transformation.
Through yoga it is our desire to encourage students to move, stretch and to become familiar with their bodies inside and out, to learn and grow physically, mentally and spiritually. The ancient form of physical fitness called Pilates believes that it is important to exercise with precision and grace. It emphasizes deep breathing and mental concentration as essential to training and building a healthy body, mind and respiratory system.
It is believed that Pilates helps to improve circulation and physical fitness through muscular squeezing. Developing mind/body awareness and control is the path to mental peace, self-control and higher reasoning that in turn leads to happiness. Through physical fitness one can meet the demands of the fast-paced modern work-life and have energy to spare for one’s personal and social life.
