Heritage Martial Arts & Fitness Centre is a unilateral training facility; housing traditional martial arts, adult fitness, personal protection & compliance training, a full scale gym facility, yoga/pilates, seminars, personal training, nutrition counselling, and Wing Chun. Our programs are designed for children and adults. The goal of Heritage Martial Arts and Fitness Centre is to provide professional training for any level student from beginners to advanced.

Goju-Ryu Karate System

 

ADULT PROGRAMMING

The goal of our karate classes is to teach a traditional martial art using modern concepts in a practical manner so that it can be applied in today’s society.

We teach the traditional Goju Ryu Karate system which was founded by Chojun Miyagi in Okinawa, Japan.

Karate training improves physical strength and stamina, increases self-confidence and self-esteem, and teaches self-control, self-awareness and respect for others. It also reduces stress and helps promote a healthy lifestyle.

Belt ranking will determine class times. Please refer to our training schedule for specific class times.

Every student is encouraged to train at least twice a week to achieve optimum benefits from their time in the dojo.

KIDS PROGRAMMING

Our kids programs run 6 days a week with scheduling based on belt level. Your child will also be introduced to Japanese history and culture. We teach the traditional Goju-Ryu karate system which was founded by Chojun Miyagi in Okinawa, Japan. This includes kata, kumite, self-defence and safety training.

The goal of our karate classes for children is to teach a traditional martial art using modern concepts in a practical manner so that it can be applied to the reality children face on a daily basis.

Karate improves physical strength, stamina and co-ordination, enhances self-esteem, teaches your child how to listen and follow directions, and teaches self-control, self-awareness and respect for others.

Trial classes are available for kids 5 and over. Please contact Sensei James Fries to book a class.

Personal Protection and Safety Training

 

Heritage Martial Arts & Fitness Centre is a Certified Safety Centre under CDT System and world-renowned bodyguard Tom Patire. The Full Spectrum Defense system uses the CDT system of training along side up to date training methods that cover different situational type scenarios.

We provide training for everyday people with very busy lives. Training is given in HOURS not YEARS. Training is geared towards people looking for:

These programs can be taught either at our training centre or at your location. Various self protection programs are offered with material and content specific to individuals, schools, businesses and safety professionals. We are not a large gym, but we strongly believe that is one of our best qualities. We love the fact that we are able to work with our clients in class and one-on-one in a family-type atmosphere and that our workouts can be utilized by anyone aged 16-70+. But don’t let our family atmosphere give you the wrong impression – our workouts are designed to challenge you no matter what fitness level you are at!

We offer up to 12 classes per week with the addition of 2 new classes for people who are 50+. Classes are full of energy and planned so that all you need to do is show up and be ready to start. Classes are 45 minutes in length and incorporate different types of equipment with the use of everything from kettlebells, dumbbells, battle ropes, bosu balls and much more.We also push you to use your own body weight in a variety of unique, challenging and fun exercises.

Qi Gong

 

Qi Gong consists of meditation, relaxation, physical movement, mind-body integration and breathing exercises.

This is a program for all ages and abilities that is designed to aid in good health, overall wellness and increased flexibility.

Debbi Neufeglise is the senior instructor of our Qi Gong program. Debbi is a Black Belt in Goju Ryu Karate and has been training in martial arts for over 10 years. She is a newly certified Qi Gong instructor under Sifu George Picard.

The regular practice of Qi Gong is known to:

Rates are determined on a per case basis custom to the size of group, the type of seminar / private training session and the specific instructor that you are training with. Our seminars and private training sessions are fun, reality based and educational. Wing Chun

 

Wing Chun is a Chinese martial arts system of Kung Fu. It focuses on unarmed, close-range combat and practical applications for self-defence. Wing Chun specializes in efficiency of motion through simultaneous attack and defence (using one hand to redirect while striking with the other hand).

The Wing Chun system stresses relaxation, limiting risk, use of balance, body structure, and redirection of force and protection of the centreline. This is why, at the Canadian WingChun Fellowship, we focus on teaching Wing Chun through the use of good body mechanics and the laws of physics.

Wing Chun consists of three empty hand forms: Sil Lim Tao, Chum Kil and Biu Tze, as well as one Wooden Dummy Form.

Training also includes a partner drill called Chi Sau or “Sticky Hands”. Chi Sau allows the student to apply techniques from the three empty hand forms in a dynamic laboratory. This allows them to develop sensitivity to incoming forces at the same time. In addition to partner drills, there are foundational drills and footwork drills.

Wing Chun teaches principles rather than just techniques. This lets the student respond to any hostile action without memorizing hundreds of responses.

We promote a fun, relaxed learning environment with both traditional and modern training. We encourage everyone to work at their own pace while seeking to improve. Our goal is to improve mentally, physically and spiritually while learning valuable self-defence.

Everyone struggles with what to eat, when to eat, or how much to eat depending on their own goals and objectives.  Healthy eating can be a headache. Nutrition Consulting can take the hassle out of trying to eat right and accomplish your goals (whatever those might be). Everyone is unique – from their body structure, to their metabolism, to their lifestyle and their individual goals. Eating right is not “one-size fits all!” Looking to lose weight?
